They arrived Friday night and we went immediately to Thatch Tiki Bar. For our Portland readers (who are we kidding) - you must go here. Forget about tacky decor and weak drinks. The decor was authentic and the drinks were perfectly mixed and strong. We chatted with the owner for a while, and you can tell that he is a man you truly loves all things tiki.
I am going to cheat on this posting and send you over to my brother's blog to read a synopsis and see pictures of Friday's and Saturday's festivities.

After two more stops we were on out to the coast to drive along US 101 and take it the views.
We stopped for the night somewhere south of Waldport, OR at the Beachside Campground. As the name would imply, the campground was just a short hike from the beach Unfortunately, the campground could also have been called "Speeding Tractor Trailer Highway Campground" because it was right off of US 101. Our camp site was about 10 feet from the road. Nevertheless it was perfect. We spent the entire evening on the beach playing cards, eating cheese and watching the sunset. Like i said, perfect.

We continued south on US101 on Monday morning before heading home after reaching Reedsport, OR.

We finished the day with a dinner at Portland's Pok Pok Whiskey Soda Lounge, which was named 2007 restaurant of the year by numerous Oregon publications. It specializes in exotic mixed drinks and Thai street food such as a roasted natural game hen rubbed with lemongrass, garlic, pepper and cilantro served with a spicy sweet and sour dipping. sauce. Absolutely scrumptious.
