Argentina - Day 2

On Monday Ian and I took a trip to the Tigre delta. As the name suggests, it is in the delta of the Parana river which is about 40 minutes outside of BA by train. From Tigre, we jumped on a boat and headed into the maze of tributaries to the village of Tres Bocas. Tres Bocas was completely surreal. The town has no roads. Sidewalks line the waterways that snake amongst the houses. We were greeted in Tres Bocas by a pack of stray dogs, which act as the town ambassadors (or prostitutes). One of the dogs escorted us around the sidewalks in hopes that we would play with it and maybe give it a snausage. This dog was a bit unusual because he would disappear from time to time only to reappear with a lemon or orange in his mouth, which he would proceed to play fetch with.

We spent a few hours playing with our canine companion and felt as though we had formed a special bond with him. Certainly no other tourists played tug-of-war with him or fetch with various citrus fruits. Unfortunately, we were not special. One of my co-workers who visited Tres Bocas after we did told us about this "stupid dog" who would show up with lemons in his mouth and bug you until you played fetch with him. We felt so used.
