One month later and still no downstairs crapper!

I realize that you usually wait until the end of a project to reflect on lessons learned, but because this little bathroom remodel is going to stretch into late september I thought I would jot a few notes.

Lesson 1 - Apparently the architectural concept of level surfaces was invented sometime after our house was built in 1930.

Lesson 2 - When budgeting time for a project, factor in time for at least 3 trips to home depot and 1 trip to the ER.

Lesson 3 - Although basic mathematics would tell you that you that a 9' x 4' bathroom requires 36 sq ft of tile (plus an extra 2 foot for good measure). You actually need 114 sq feet of tile. Apparently our house was built before basic math was invented too.

So as you will guess from these lessons, our first adventure into home improvements is starting to drag on. We made some good progress these past two weekends (see pics), but the finish line keeps moving further out.
